CHEBOYGAN - A Los Angeles-based theatrical stage production company will present the off-Broadway hit “The Queen of Bingo” at 7:30 p.m. Saturday at the Opera House.
Theatre A Go-Go, Inc., will stage the comedy in the tradition of the hilarious Harvey Korman and Tim Conway sketches from the old “Carol Burnett Show.”
The story centers on the relationship between two crazy sisters, Sis and Babe, who meet once a week to play Bingo at St. Joes in Battle Creek, Mich. Two zany guys will portray the two crazy gals in the performance and the audience even gets to join in the fun during the “Middle Bird Special” - a real Bingo game where a lucky audience member wins a 10-pound frozen turkey.
“The audiences are just loving the show. There are parts of your mother, your grandmother and your crazy aunt in Sis, shes a scream,” said Shane Partlow, who plays Sis. “Its a fun, fun show with plenty of nutty moments. I continue to find new stuff about this character each time I play her. People actually forget that these are men playing the roles of the women.”
Theatre A Go-Go, Inc. is a national commercial theatrical production company that has produced live stage shows across the U.S., including the world premiere of new plays and musicals in New York, Chicago, and Los Angeles. Their producers have worked with many new and established performers, including Academy Award winners Kevin Spacey, Holly Hunter, Anthony Hopkins, Geraldine Page, F. Murray Abraham and the legendary Katherine Hepburn. The company is currently producing the national tour of “An Evening With Jack Klugman” which opened in 2004 at the Miramar Theatre in Milwaukee. “The Queen of Bingo” has been touring since the summer of 2004, playing across the country.
Tickets for this performance are now available through the Opera House box office for $21, with tickets for students through high school priced at $10. Box office hours are 9:30 a.m. through 4:30 p.m., Monday through Friday, and on day of performance from 6:00 p.m. until curtain time. All seats are reserved.
